This study provides an assessment of dominant drivers deforestation and forest degradation across 29 REDD+ participant countries total funds disbursed from the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility to 15 since they signed their respective Readiness Preparation Proposals (R-PPs), as well what spent grants on. aims provide information for policymakers donors on need invest in REDD+, channel key activities effectively efficiently implementing REDD+. The is based countries’ R-PPs FCPF readiness fund progress reports, using a content analysis approach. expansion agriculture, which includes both commercial subsistence was predominant driver deforestation, while logging, such industrial small-scale exploitation, main most participating countries. Furthermore, almost all policy strategy development, stakeholder consultation events, public awareness creation. Relatively small amounts been capacity building training. Thus, international focus strengthening institutional capacities effective governance structures should also platforms engage with tackle drivers. suggest further studies identify high-performing lower-than-average funding, consider pressures, size forests, emission reduction potential.

A Little REDD Model Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation
A simple model allows rapid comparison of typical baseline and policy scenarios which might be considered under international programs to avoid CO2 emissions caused by forest clearing, such as REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation). These tests of REDD policy scenarios can also include CO2 stored in forest products. The value of avoided emissions can also be determi...
